Summer Time?

Anyone know what happened to our summer? Usually you could depend on a couple of reasonable weeks at the a start of June which was nicknamed “Exam Weather” in honour of the students trapped in exam halls while the rest of us enjoyed the good weather.

Aviva

Ireland returned to the Aviva Stadium this weekend for a 6-Nations rugby match against Italy and while I couldn’t get a ticket I was reminded that I still had this photo half finished on my laptop from a walk around the stadium last year. It was a bit of a wet, showery, cold day but at least I managed to get one photo I liked out of the trip.

Occupy

The Occupy Wall Street protests have spread world wide and Ireland is no exception. We have Occupy Dame Street where a group of protestors have set up tents on the square in front of the Irish Central Bank. Last Saturday they staged a protest march through the city so I went along to take some photos. Protest photos are more fun because I can take photos of people on the street without them getting too annoyed. Autumn 2011

Last year I posted about The Last Autumn in St Stephens Green. At the time plans were in place for Metro North and a Dart Interconnector that would see a train station being built under St Stephens Green. In order to make space for the construction a large number of trees in the Green would have to be cut down.

Fortunately the recession kicked in and the government realized that at a time when they need to close hospitals around the country building a train line from Dublin city center out to the airport would be a good way to loose every Dail seat they hold outside of Dublin. While the works have not been cancelled they have been put on hold for the moment but that will hopefully see a permanent reprieve for the Green.
