After hearing of the death of Neil Armstrong on Sunday I went out to take some photos of the half moon on a very clear night. It was my first attempt and I liked the result especially since I was using an old Sigma 70-300 lens. It was on a tripod which helped and the air couldnt have been better.
Month: August 2012
St John’s Row Houses
A few weeks ago on a beautiful sunny day I walked around downtown St John’s taking photographs of the iconic row houses. Of the hundreds of shots I “narrowed” it down to 30 favourites, but even then lets be honest no one wants to sit through 30 images of houses in a slideshow. Therefore I decided to play around a little and using the print module in Lightroom came up with an image that shows just a sample of the photos from that day. I might throw up another couple of images like this one or I might upload all the images into a slideshow anyway, but for now here are the St John’s Row Houses.
Another night in Torbay
Blog accident
These rocks are a nesting ground for seagulls and sometimes they stay still long enough to appear in long exposure shots, sometimes but not often.
I’ll use this new post as an opportunity to explain a bit of a accident I had with the blog this morning. In a tired haze I decided to tidy up some old wordpress installations without realising that all the posts since August 2010 still pointed to files under those folders. I’ve spent most of the day tidying up the mess and I’ve got most of them reposted now from my Lightroom catalogs. One or two big months to go and all the photos should be back.
Update: All back I think. Might have gotten a few pics wrong but they are 3 years old so I had a hard time remembering exactly which ones they were.

Bell Island
I dont often post two days in a row since I dont get enough time to spend at photos and produce some every day but we went for a drive yesterday out to Portugal Cove and the Bell Island ferry port and I brought my camera.
After some fish and chips I had the time to take some long exposure shots. I had been converting these into B&W lately but this one looked much nicer in colour this morning that I decided it’d be better to leave it in colour.
