Ice Tree

icetree-1

My second winter living in Canada is almost over but it’s been a cold one so it refuses to completely give over to spring so it’s still giving me some new experiences. Freezing rain is one and seeing trees covered completely in a layer of ice. Last weekend we had some and the trees glistened for hours. It was strange to me because everything else was clear but the trees were coated in ice. I was out at a family event and hadn’t brought my camera so when I got back some of the ice had melted but I still went out and grabbed a couple of shots. (I hear there is another one on the way tonight so maybe I’ll get some more shots tomorrow)

Blizzard

Snow-1Newfoundland got hit hard over the last couple of days by a blizzard. The whole of Canada has been hit by arctic air and temperatures. To add to our problems the power went out to the whole island, it was already on rolling blackouts before the storm.

Before digging out my own driveway I went for a walk to see what others in the area were up to and grabbed a few shots, though taking my 60D out in snow storm is not a good idea so I didn’t stay out long.

Merry Christmas

RebBerries-1This the closest I have to a Christmas photo this year so I’ll use it to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. It was taken in the snow a couple of weekends ago. The snow is gone now but another storm is on the way for this weekend so perhaps I’ll get some more winter photos to add to the collection.

Happy New Year

My last post of the year 2010, a photo of an icicle hanging down from a bridge near Ardfinnan Co. Tipperary on Christmas Day. We drove past it on the way to visit family so we had to stop to have a look and take some photos.

Happy New Year everyone and may 2011 be a happy and successful year for you all.
