Lack of inspiration or just busy?

It’s been a quiet few weeks for me on the photography front. I’m not sure if it’s lack of inspiration or if I’ve just been too busy with other stuff. I’m getting married later in the year and the last few weeks have been pretty hectic with planning. Not that I’ve not had time to take some photos but when I get home I’m just not in the mood to put them on the computer and do anything with them. I have a set from Cahir of the castle and River Suir that I took a couple of weekends ago that I havent even looked at yet.

Still I have to do something photographic and having the iPhone helps because I’m able to snap some photos and mess with them without having to open the laptop. This week as part of the wedding planning the ties the bridal party will wear arrived. I’m sure it’s probably not the done thing to post up photos of wedding clothing before the event but the hipstamatic effects distort the true color and appearance of the tie so mean this is more like a teaser rather than a real spoiler.

Italian Railway

Photography is my hobby but unfortunately I could never make a living in it (I like gadgets too much to live off a photographers income). My real job over the last few years takes me out of the country quite a bit, usually to Italy and Paris. There is never space in my bag for my camera gear and there is never time to wander and take photos.

This trip though the sun was shining and on a walk back to our office after lunch I managed to get 5 minutes to take some photos. Office parks are pretty much the same all over the world and our one is no different, but across the road is the back of the local railway station built separately and in an older style and behind it in the distance is the start of the Alps. It might be the only decent photo I’ve gotten of the area, but it is the only interesting building within walking distance.

Eddies Disco?

We went to Eddie Rockets during a shopping expedition last weekend for this weeks wedding, sometimes a pineapple burger and a milkshake are the only way to refuel when being dragged from one shop to another for your opinion (that’ll get me in trouble, I’m joking).

Croke Park Morning

I was taking part in the DCU Careers Fair this week so my early morning bus brought me past Croke Park and over the canal. We were stopped at traffic lights so I took advantage of a break in the flow of cars to try and grab some shots of the stadium and canal.

It would be nice to claim it was all planned but with an iPhone sometimes all you can do is take several shots and hope you get one that looks like you wanted. I was fortunate this time and got something kind of nice, at least I like it, with the train lines illuminated and the mother and child just walking into the light.

Black Church

Yesterday I went to a months mind mass in Templebraden church in Limerick. The weekend had been wet and stormy so the wet stone made the church appear almost black, the effect was magnified by Hipstamatic on my iPhone. Yes the shot is very underexposed but I like it for that reason. It is a lovely little church, built in 1884, and was packed for Sunday mass, something you cant say about many other churchs in Ireland today. Hopefully I’ll get to go back there sometime with a better camera and more time to take photos.

Crd

It’s been a busy few weeks and I haven’t had a chance to take photos. It’s a shame because I started the year with great intentions of shooting and posting more often. Perhaps I need to be less picky and just take photos of whatever is around and post them. Not that I want to start flooding my blog with daily rubbish pics but some more relaxed ones like this photo taken while waiting for a bus outside Trinity College. One good thing about Dublin Bus is you gave plenty of time to take photos while waiting for them.
