Battery Pano

batteryPano-1Here is a pano of The Battery at the entrance of the harbour to St John’s. A rocky piece of land that people built houses on despite the seemingly dangerous location. It makes for one of the more interesting places to photo especially from across the Narrows on the way to Fort Amhurst. In all the time I’ve spent visiting St John’s and now living there I had never found my way across to there until last week.

The Gut

TheGut-1For the first time in years I’m not in Dublin or even Ireland for St Patricks Day. I always enjoyed going in to take photos of the parade and the festivities but not this year. Now I’m in Newfoundland and while they do celebrate St Patricks Day here it’s not the same. Not that it’s bad just not the same photo opportunities, but seeing how I’ve been taking the same parade photos for years maybe it’s good to change things up a little.

We’ll go out later to meet some friends for food and a few St Patricks Dat drinks so I thought I should get a photo up now while I have the chance. This is another Quidi Vidi photo. This time it’s the entrance to “The Gut” in B&W.

Nicolas

nicolas-1-2It’s been a busy few weeks here with work and house hunting so I haven’t had a chance to get out taking photos. Still I’ve tried a few times to get my underused flash out and practice using it so here is a non landscape photo. This is a photo I took of one of my nephews, Nicolas. He’s a hard one to photograph since, like any toddler, he never stays still. I’m pleased with this one though. We had to follow him around the room trying to get his attention and then he finally took notice of the camera. He paused for a second and I got the shot. Unfortunately he then became fascinated with the lens and trying to get it off the camera, I guess maybe he’ll grow up to be a gadget nut 🙂
