Last year good friends of ours (Karen and Damian) got married and asked myself, Lauren and Shauneen Armstrong to take the photos. I blogged about it at the time but Karen now writes a column about planning a wedding for ramp.ie and this week she discussed how to pick a photographer and what to do if you want a friend to take the photos. She was very complimentary about the work we did and I decided to leave a rather long comment discussing it from our point of view and why taking photos at a friends wedding is something the photographer needs to take very seriously. Wedding photography is one of the things lots of people with an interest in photography think they can do but they don’t fully realize how much work, skill and experience is involved. I don’t mean to sound like a photo snob but having done it I can say there are several things to think carefully about:
