Bauline Boats

BaulineBoats-1I seem to have reduced the frequency of posts here to once a month. I have to do better, it’s not like I don’t have photos to post, I’ve still got some from our trip to Bauline and I iceberg photos and baby photos and lots of others. I’ve got to pay more attention to my blog.

This photo is, as I mentioned, from our trip to Bauline. The little boats pulled up at the end of the harbour. I love this little community, its very photogenic and quiet. I’ve got to go out there on my own with a few spare hours to wander off down some of the tracks I don’t want to drive on.

Anchor Graveyard

AnchorGraveyard-1

It’s been another busy few weeks getting ready for Molly’s baptism and my family coming over for it from Ireland. We did do a drive over to Bauline again to show them a smaller old Newfoundland community that isn’t too far from the city. I threw my camera bag into the car just in case I got a chance to take some photos and I was glad I did when we stumbled upon what I can only call an anchor graveyard where old boat anchors have been left to rust.

Rowboat And Icebergs

RowboatAndIceber-1

We went out around the bay yesterday to see if we could find some more icebergs. We had almost turned around and headed back to try another area when we crested a hill and saw a bay with 5 or 6 icebergs in it. I took a few shots but this was my favourite. I can’t take all the credit for it. I was so focused on the icebergs it was Lauren who spotted the row boat and told me it would make a nice shot, which it did.

Bauline. Boats, Iceberg and Sunset

BaulineIcebergSunset-1

I went iceberg hunting during the week and got a few ok shots but this one was my favourite of the day. I had stopped photographing, brought my DSLR gear home and gone to pick up my wife and baby. Lauren wanted to see some icebergs as well so we headed over to Bauline where I hadn’t been earlier. There was a small one berg in the harbour and all I had was my iPhone but I took a few shots anyway and as I said it ended up being my favourite of the day. It just goes to show, the best camera is the one you have with you.

Ice Tree

icetree-1

My second winter living in Canada is almost over but it’s been a cold one so it refuses to completely give over to spring so it’s still giving me some new experiences. Freezing rain is one and seeing trees covered completely in a layer of ice. Last weekend we had some and the trees glistened for hours. It was strange to me because everything else was clear but the trees were coated in ice. I was out at a family event and hadn’t brought my camera so when I got back some of the ice had melted but I still went out and grabbed a couple of shots. (I hear there is another one on the way tonight so maybe I’ll get some more shots tomorrow)

Great Great Aunt

GreatGreatAunt-1It’s been a busy few weeks since Molly arrived so I haven’t gotten out to do enough photography and when I do I don’t have time to edit and post them so I’ve been very quiet here. Still Molly does give me some new opportunities to take photos (though I don’t want to swamp this blog with baby photos). Here is one from yesterday when we went to visit Molly’s Great Great Aunt. She held the baby for a while and we took some photos but this one jumped out to me with Molly’s hand holding on to her great great aunts hand. I converted it to B&W and decided to post it.
